get helpThe Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries is an interfaith service that provides food and fellowship to those in need and educates our community on hunger and poverty.

Your donation will be used to provide food to those in need, we are a frugal organization, and we pledge to be good stewards of your donation. 89 cents of every dollar donated is used to support our pantries, meal sites, and heat-n-eat.

Donations can be mailed to PO Box 804 Essex CT 06426.  We accept cash or checks.  Checks are to made out to The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries.

We utilize volunteers to provide our services—it is how we can provide almost 900,000 meals worth of food every year—their commitment makes our mission come alive.

Because we shop at 2 area food banks where food costs 5-12 cents a pound, and receive donations of food, every dollar donated can be leveraged to provide four meals, each meal served on average costs 32 cents.

Your donation makes a difference in the lives of those in need—know that you helped your neighbor in a tangible way. We are in existence because of those who support us, and we thank you for your generosity.

Here are some easy ways you can help to raise funds for the soup kitchens.

Have a “loose change” bin sitting at your company’s cafeteria or break room. As employees eat lunch they can put their loose change in the collection bin to be donated to the soup kitchens.

Find large glass jars, place in rooms and have a race to see who can fill up their jars with pennies. Adding bills to an opposing team’s jar requires them to subtract money from their total amount (if you put in a $5 bill, the other team takes $5 off their total).

Ideas include bake sales, car washes, breakfasts, lunches or concerts. Host coffee houses or give reduced prices for those who donate food at your event.

Have each person figure up what they spend on food for their family for a day, and donate that much to the soup kitchens

Let everyone know that for every dollar donated three meals are served ($50 equals 150 meals)

Have party guests make a donation in honor of your celebration

Provide a family of four with food for a month with a donation of $48

Consider a donation from your family foundation

Consider SSKP as a beneficiary of your group’s fundraising event

Be one of the sponsors for the annual Soup-er Bowl

Help sponsor a trip to the Food Bank with a $25 donation

Purchase “green bags” and donate to a pantry

Encourage your faith community to hold a special collection
