get helpThe Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries is an interfaith service that provides food and fellowship to those in need and educates our community on hunger and poverty.

Ian MacKenzie, who lives in Deep River, collected food for the Westbrook Pantry in place of presents for his 8th birthday party.  Ian , his sister, Kayleigh and his parents, Tina & Paul brought the food to our pantry on Tuesday, June 5th.

Thanks to Ian and his family to think of helping our pantry in this very generous way.

Last Friday, 7 amazing teens from Morgan School came to clean the Clinton pantry as their part of "Huskies Helper Day".  Well, clean they did!  They scrubbed the tables in the hall, the coolers, both pantry floors, both pantry windows and more!  Hats off to the Huskies for devoting a large chunk of their time and energy to make this happen! They cleaned areas that haven't been cleaned for a very long time and were very dirty. Thank you Morgan School!

Feed the Need, a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting education and awareness of local hunger issues by sponsoring physical activities and events, held their annual 5K road race at Hammonasset State Park in Madison on April 7th.  Over 330 runners came out to run and support The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries by donating non-perishable food as an entry fee.

The donations totaled 8,800 lbs. of food - a near record for the event!  Thanks to all the participants, Feed the Need, and a special thanks to race organizer extraordinate, Jacque Rollins.

The First Ever Shoreline Firehouse Food Drive collected 4,213 lbs of food for our area pantries.

Thank you so much to all who donated, volunteered and helped fill the shelves.  We especially want to thank the following Fire Departments for taking part this year:

Chester Hose Company, Clinton FD, Deep River FD, Essex FD, Killingworth FD, Niantic FD Station #1, Niantic FD Station #2, Old Saybrook FD, and Westbrook FD.

Everyone who took part made a difference in the lives of those in need along the shoreline.

Colin Lee celebrated his 5th birthday in February by asking for donations to SSKP instead of gifts.  Colin and his friends collected 157 lbs. of food and raised over $200.   Thank you to Colin and his friends for supporting those in our community.
